Things to Know About Halle Berry and Ex-Boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey

If you haven't heard yet, Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have reportedly split and are now ironing out custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Nahla.

"They are doing well and working in the best interest of their daughter," Berry's attorney, Judy Bogen, tells E! news.
And while the couple never swapped vows, their five-year union lasted longer than both the Oscar winner's previous marriages.

So what was their deal? Here are the five things you need to know about them.

Age Difference: At 34, Aubry is nine years Berry's junior. Oh yeah, and he's hot, too.

No Rush to Tie the Knot: The Monster's Ball star hasn't had a good track record when it comes to men. Her first marriage to former Atlanta Braves slugger David Justice lasted four years and ended with a nasty divorce in 1997 amid reports he abused her and even left her with thoughts of suicide. She rebounded with hubby No. 2, singer Eric Benét, in 2001, but their union went belly up four years later after he made headlines for cheating.
Their Kid: Berry and Aubry have a beautiful daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, born March 16, 2008. (Berry also maintains a close relationship with India, Benét's teenage daughter from a prior relationship.)

His Résumé: The Montreal-born hunk is one of the world's highest paid models, having posed for the likes of Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Hugo Boss, Nautica and Next. With his blond hair and green eyes, he's a mainstay on People Magazine's Most Beautiful list. He and Berry met while shooting a Versace ad in 2005 and quickly hooked up.

Halle's Independence: Berry sought therapy in the wake of her horrible breakups, and has found renewed strength in her heartbreaks. But she has remained jaded about the institution of marriage, telling Harper's Bazaar last year that she has no intention to ever marry again. "I'm done," she proclaimed, adding that she was lucky to have found a person in Aubry "who feels done, too." She also said having a baby was something she dreamed of and accomplished with Nahla, and she added that wouldn't mind having more.

Berry also seems to be taking the split in stride. She didn't seem to be overwrought in New York last night at the DKMS Gala [photo at left]. Berry mingled with the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, Melissa Etheridge and Eva Mendes at the event honoring Island Def Jam honcho Antonio "L.A." Reid and benefiting bone marrow donation for leukemia patients.

Stay strong, Halle.
