Emphasizing(highlighting), finger painting or streaking your hair is meant to add depth to your hair and lighten the overall look. The color should compliment the natural color of your hair or the color with which to cover your hair completely. Select the highlight color that is at least 2 shades lighter than the rest of your hair, so be aware, but do not go to the paint more than 3 shades lighter as it might actually give a curious contrast and look unnatural. Here are some tips to remember, adding highlights to your hair:
-Two days before painting, wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo, but never use shampoo the next day you color your hair.
-Never use hair color whose expiration date has already passed and never left off store mixture for future use.
-For best results, natural looking, uses standard ½ and ¼ inch acrylic brushes, easily accessible to all art supply stores.
-Use a good pair of tight-fitting latex gloves while dyeing your hair.
-It is advisable to start painting the hair from the back of the head to the front side to avoid smudging the color front by mistake.
-Only the top layer of hair to be colored for visibility.
-Finger painting is good for creating a small effect. You can do just by wearing gloves and dipping minutes four fingers of each hand in solution of bleach and run them through the hair from the hairline on the back of your head. Leave for this period, rinse, shampoo and hair.
-Streaking is bolder and more shiny and needs touch-up every six to eight weeks. Half-head streaking is bleached selected strands of hair and wrapping them up in aluminum paper. Should be placed near the hairline. Whole head streaking gives a blonde effect and means that all your hair is bleached and dyed. Here are the darker stripes are placed near the hairline.
